You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you — Acts 1:8.
Equip believers
Jesus gave evangelists to equip the saints for the work of the ministry — Ephesians 4:11-12.
Edify the church
Jesus gave evangelists for the edifying of the body of Christ — Ephesians 4:11-12.
Purpose
Preach the Word of God
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person — Mark 16:15.
Teach the Word of God
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you — Matthew 28:19.
Confirm the Word of God with healings and miracles
These signs (miracles) will follow those who believe: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover. After the Lord had spoken to them He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere the Lord working with them and confirming the Word with miracles following — Mark 16:17-20.
